Kappo Yamashita in Kyoto

One of our favourite Kyoto kappo serving seafood. Excellent seafood cooked in many ways, sashimi, grilled, fried (they specialisation as they offer tempura at lunchtime). Many special seafood dishes in their creative ways... hard to describe, worth trying!

An amazing Kyoto style dining experience. Most of the ingredients are freshly prepared in front of your eyes from the water tank to your plate.Service is very friendly despite the limited English of the chefs. Pointing to your choice with the assistance of hand gestures seems to do the trick. They do have the Menu in English though.The Oysters are super fresh. The yabby is sweet, full of flavour with a lovely texture. The shiitake mushroom grilled with butter sauce and pressed mackerel sushi complete a memorable experience.Highly recommended!

Amazing experience, food theater at it's best! They hand selected our fish from the tanks there. Doesn't get much fresher than that!

Everyone was extremely nice. The food was great, very fresh & traditional. I am not usually one to try much seafood, but was pleasantly surprised. The vegetable tempura was also very good. I would highly recommend it.

We stumbled upon this little gem just off a Main Street. Very friendly staff welcomed us in for lunch. We tried the set menu and were totally impressed with the quality of the food and the expert craftsmanship that the chefs used to prepare the various courses. They were very attentive and friendly and even spoke a little bit of English. A great experience that is more traditional. Not too expensive, well priced for the value of what you get. I would go back again in a heartbeat

Simply one of the best dining experiences one can get in Kyoto. The chefs are working in front of you (counter) and it’s an amazing show. Everyone is extremely friendly and the food is exquisite.
